It's prom season, so what better way to celebrate than with a little book prom? Allow us to present the royalty of YA! See the king and queen, plus the most popular in new releases, sci-fi & fantasy, romance, and comedy for teens. These books are wildly popular and some of the best Young Adult reads out there. Take some of that prom magic home and enjoy! Not enough? See last year's winners here.
Our King and Queen
To start off, books don't have genders to really be a King or Queen, we know, so let's say these books are our top prom royalty! Some of the most popular, biggest hits there are right now. Shadow and Bone's win hardly needs explanation with its meteoric rise thanks to the new Netflix series. Grab the whole series before they're gone! Adam Silvera's They Both Die at the End came out a few years ago to great reviews, but is suddenly making waves thanks to an upcoming TV adaptation. It is selling out, trending on TikTok, and truly the next big thing.

Junior Royalty
For books that are a little newer on the scene are the honors of being our junior royalty. This book said You Should See Me in a Crown and we said yes! This perfectly prom-themed YA book, released last June, has won a Stonewall honor and had us cheering on protagonist Liz as she tries to become prom queen to earn a scholarship. Clap When You Land, from the author of popular The Poet X, was released last May and won the Goodreads choice award for Best Young Adult Fiction and has spent the last year getting more and more popular and is often labeled a must-read of YA.

Royal Knights
Of course our royals need fighters, so for those looking for something a little tougher, or a little more magical, these picks are for you! R. L. Stine's Fear Street series has been around the block for a good couple of decades now, but is making the charts this year because in just one month, Netflix will release their much-anticipated adaptation (finally!). Our other knight this year is Holly Jackson's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Its sequel, Good Girl Bad Blood, was just released last March and this is a series that cannot be missed.
