Best study skills book that I have found...

This book is by far the best solution for slow or struggling students! It gets to the basic reasons a student does not understand or learn and then gives you exact ways to remedy the problems. Both of my boys are excelling in school after using this information to study!

Helpful and easy to understand

I bought this book for my 13 year old who has always stuggled academically and socially. However, now that she's in middle school it bothers her more and more. One of the issues I've noticed is that she doesn't have a good understanding of what she reads or hears. Miscommunication, social mis-steps and frustration typify the way she interacts with the world. One of the techniques described in the book teaches kids how to use a dictionary AND find mass for each word. You can see her "lights come on" when she does this. Kinda like, "Oh, that's what it is!" It's funny...she hates reading. But she'll read this book. And when I bought her a picture dictionary she wouldn't put it down! It was as if a whole new world opened up. She walked around reading definitions out loud. Her grades in English have gone from a D to an A in one school term. So we'll likely use more of LRH's study material.

Leaning How to Learn - L Ron Hubbard

My child has had major difficulties learnig. He has been labled ADD and ADHD and hyperactive!!! This book has helped me help him and now he is really settled down and LEARNS!!! Hubbard has hit the nail on the head. This should be a course in every school. I have a new son. Very powerful and recommended for everyone.

Winner for students of all ages

This is a fascinating, yet very simple, book. I think all students, failed or successful, will find something in this book that hits home. It's short and sweet but action-packed and leads to an ability to immediately try Mr. Hubbard's concepts for yourself. I have used it with all my children and they are all above grade level in their studies. This is a necessary addition to every home.

Learning How To Learn

I never cease to be amazed at the effectiveness of the simple tools included in this book. My son was labeled hyperactive and prescribed Ritalyn which I was very much against. I struggled through this problem from the time he was 3 until he was 14. What a revelation when we discovered this technology! The three barriers to study found in the book were the key to the solution. The Hollywood Education and Literacy Project in Miami uses this technology to improve students academic performance. Parents' and students' success stories keep pouring in. The families at HELP Miami come from middle and high class schools. Students have study problems everywhere. It makes no difference. My son is now a calm dedicated individual and can tackle any subject without fear.

The first book in education

This is the first piece of "curriculum" I teach my children once they know how to read. I don't know what I would have done without this book!Ever get to the bottom of the page and can't recall what you just read? Or do your eyes ever start to hurt when studying? Ever get confused about something you're trying to learn?Does your child ever experience these problems in his or her schooling? The causes of these problems may not be what you expect - and the solution for each situation is so simple and effective! This book has been so helpful to me in teaching my children, that I credit it with the fact that my son (who is 9) can read anything he wants. Currently he is reading Where the Red Fern Grows, which is generally read by teenagers. My 8 year old is reading Little House on the Prairie and she, too, has had great success in applying the techniques set forth in Learning How to Learn in her own study. If you only purchase one book for your child's education, let it be this one.
