The Old Factory: Screenplay and Synopsis

By Verland T Whipple

Some secrets are worth digging up. Others should stay buried.

When the city announces plans to demolish the old Martell factory - abandoned for a decade and whispered about ever since its owner died there under mysterious circumstances - thirteen-year-old Cory Clark and his best friend Zeke can't resist one last look inside before it's gone.

What they find is far more than dust and ghost stories.

A police detective recruits the boys as unofficial scouts for a stalled investigation. A starving stranger hiding among the crates begs for their silence and their food. And somewhere in the factory's forgotten offices, a fortune - hidden by a dead man a decade ago - is still waiting to be found.

As Cory and Zeke are pulled deeper into a mystery involving armed men, a desperate fugitive, and a hidden inheritance worth killing for, they'll have to decide how far loyalty and curiosity are worth risking everything.

The Old Factory is a coming-of-age mystery-adventure screenplay about friendship, courage, and the price of doing the right thing when it would be so much easier to walk away.
