Understand Like Daniel
Daniel 1:17 (KJV)
"As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams."
Listen to me. I have read the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists for years. I have read the testimony of Stanislav Petrov, who saved your life and mine on the twenty-sixth of September in nineteen eighty-three by refusing to push the button. I have read the testimony of Vasili Arkhipov, who saved your life and mine on the twenty-seventh of October in nineteen sixty-two by refusing to launch a nuclear torpedo. We are alive by the no of two strangers. The defence of the Earth begins by being grateful, and then by becoming the next no.
Daniel served in the highest court of the most powerful empire of his day, and he served with understanding. He read the times, interpreted the dreams of kings, and changed the trajectory of an empire without ever lifting a weapon. The tenth solution is the raising up of Daniels - believers placed inside the defense ministries, the foreign offices, the intelligence agencies, who carry understanding the merely-trained do not possess. Empires are not turned by protests outside the gate; they are turned by Daniels inside the throne room.
Hear the witness of the First World War. From nineteen fourteen to nineteen eighteen, Europe killed seventeen million of its own people with rifles, artillery, and the first industrial gas attacks at Ypres. The promise that mustard gas would be too horrible to use again was made and broken within twenty years. Every weapon a civilization builds, it eventually deploys. This is the historical law, and the nuclear arsenal is not the exception.
Let me say it once more, plainly: the bomb does not have to win. The Lamb has already won. We are participating in the enforcement of a verdict that was handed down on a hill outside Jerusalem two thousand years ago.
