This is a great Neil Gaiman book for little kids, you can read it with them or they can read it independently before you undoubtedly get them hooked on everything else he’s written, Coraline, the graveyard book, American gods, Neverwhere, everything people, everything

Fantastic and funny!

My son's second-grade teacher had him read this book and do a book report on it. This quirky adventure story had us laughing out loud several times. The illustrations are wonderful. Highly recommend.
