Mutts is the absolute best strip there is. It's so subtle and Mooch, Earl, Shtinky and the rest are the best "animals" around. Even when it's not just sweet but also sad it's still wonderful. Not to mention "My Ozzie" and Frank and Millie and the fish and the poor bulldog and Crabby and the big dog who "woves" everybody -- I could go on forever.Patrick McDonnell's drawings are puuuurfect -- I love his shtuff. I'll be looking for the next one in the series.

YESH! McDonnell does it again! He created this adorable little world where a dog and a cat live together whichever way they choose to do it. Ever since I read the first Mutts in the newspaper, I wanted to see more immediately. This book has it all, continuing in its fourth (and hopefully one of many) books. I especially love the Shelter Stories near the end. I always get the sniffles reading that. Do enjoy the moushie shmousie dance!

What a wonderful strip!I have loved Mutts since day one, because of its innocence and appreciation for the little, odd things in life, such as Mooch bemoaning his fate as he flails under a sheet. The main characters are the traditional enemies, dog and cat, who are now fast friends. Fluff-brained Mooch squeals his way through the world with wiser dog Earl making wry comments in the background. But the strip never descends into slapstick or grossness, but retains its innocent charm. When I'm depressed or feeling lonely, I whip out a book of Mutts strips and revisit my friends Mooch and Earl. According to the gospel of Patrick McDonnell, the world is a beautiful place and you should enjoy it. Words to live by.
Great for pet owners everywhere!

Mutts is so cool and realistic in its depiction of pets and how they behave; Earl, Mooch, and Shtinky are so cute! If you have ever owned a cat or a dog, you've got to read this great comic series! More shtuff...Yesh!

I recently had the chance to meet Patrick McDonnell at a booksigning at a local bookstore. He was a genuinely nice man who really cares about what happens to animals, particularly shelter pets (hence his heart-tugging "Shelter Stories"). He also graciously drew pictures of Earl & Mooch inside the covers of my copies of Mutts books, and for my sister Joyce (who is a HUGE fan) he drew a picture of the bulldog free of his chain - now, that's a happy thought! Thank you, Patrick McDonnell for all the laughs & tears.
