Avid Reader

Wow what a story. The tale of overcoming parental abuse hits you at the very core of the heart. From only the negatives that Zane and Britt encountered growing up and all the abuse, they encountered, them sticking together just to survive was a real page turner. "THE DOCTOR" may have been wonderful, and a human first, as then a parent, he certainly lacked on all bases. Thank goodness Zane and Britt were able to be rescued by Emily. Not only was Emily their aunt but their salvation. So with all the love they received, determination, and a force to be reckoned with, Emily was surely their saving grace, along the David and Lee believing in the truth, Zane and Britt were able to finally see the light at the end of the dark and horrific tunnel of the life they experienced at the hands of the so called "Parents". Yes this one of Nora Roberts best books. Read it think about it and maybe realize just how lucky you may be!!

A Must Read

This is a page turner and read the whole book in 3 days. It highlights some childhood abuse but showed the reader that anyone can come through trauma and still be successful, loving and caring adult. Do yourself a favor and grab this book.

Undercurrents is my alltime favorite Nora Roberts Standalone book.

I have read nearly every one of Nora's trilogies and her standalones, but i must have re and reread Undercurrents 10 times. The trauma that Zane has withstood and overcome and the man he grew up to be ahs touched my heart in such a way that the first time I read it, I couldn't put it down until I reached the end. I also fell in love with Darby and needed to know how her story turned out as well. I think I reread it because I was so happy with the way the book turned out I wanted to relive it again. the domestic abuse themes in the book are painful and difficult to get through to read but the resolutions feel justified and give us hope for the future, and maybe that's why I keep rereading it. Maybe it will make everyone else reread it too!!!

Another great NR book

First, Spoiler and Warning: This book has domestic abuse in it. The opening stories are pretty brutal, but are done well enough that you feel the fear and the pain (and disgust) but I didn't find their descriptions grossly graphic. Graphic enough to set the scene; the goal isn't to turn your stomach. What I liked/loved about this book is the story goes beyond the abuse. It touched the victims' lives and those around them. But in as positive a way as could be. This is more a love story. It like that it isn't an instant love and happily ever after. There's supposed to be suspense, but I saw it all coming. Still, i felt this was a great story, well-written. Steamy in parts, mushy in others and yet realistic throughout. I do love NR. I can't say all her books are gold, but she's not afraid of the ugly. Try Shelter In Place - i think that's an amazing book, too. Come Sundown is another favorite.
