VERY GOOD READ!!

This is the first book in the series that I have read, but enjoyed it very much. I will have to go back and read the first two. The book is very well written, and I love the characters. I was rooting for Patrick and Shannon throughout. I especially like how close the family is. Even after the loss of their parents so early in life, Dani, Shamus, and Patrick remain a part of each other. While this is Patrick's story, the author kept this in mind and Dani and Shamus are a large part of the story. I would recommend this story for anyone seeking a good romantic suspense!!

Patrick O'Rourke left Jamesville years ago to pursue his dream of being a police officer in New York City. When he is shot in the line of duty, he finds himself recuperating in the small town where he was raised. Things have changed very little, but the more Patrick watches and observes, the more he realizes just how much he has missed being away. Going into his favorite diner during a day out of his sickbed, Patrick finds himself somewhat irritated at his instant arousal when the waitress, Shannon Brooker, catches his eye. Patrick's gruffness seems to unnerve Shannon and while mentally chiding himself on his lack of manners, Patrick apologizes and sets out to explore his attraction to Shannon. Shannon Brooker is finally free of the terror that was her marriage. As a former victim of abuse, she is slowly adjusting to being in charge of her life and finds herself thinking less and less of the monster that is now her ex-husband. Shannon is emerging from her cocoon and then HE comes home on sick leave; Patrick O'Rourke, the object of her high school dreams and the man who has secretly held her heart for a long time. Falling quickly under the spell that was Patrick O'Rourke, I found myself unable to stop reading. I love nothing better than a tough, manly cop and Patrick was that and more. In addition, he was tender, passionate, and loyal. His treatment and regard for Shannon's fears made my heart pound with intensity. Shannon Brooker's character was so well written that her fears and reactions seemed more realistic by far than what I have read in a long time. THE RETURN OF PATRICK O'ROURKE is the third book in N. J. Walters' series, Jamesville. Having read the first two books, I anxiously awaited the release of THE RETURN OF PATRICK O'ROURKE and I would love to be the first to say that the third time is definitely the charm because this book was pure reading pleasure. Emotionally intense and extremely sensual, I can't help but recommend this book to my friends. Just a word of advice: this book will get you hooked on the entire series. With this is mind, let me delicately prod each reader to go back and read the first two novels released in the Jamesville series. THE RETURN OF PATRICK O'ROURKE can be read alone, but I think I enjoyed it more because I had read the prior books. Now, if only Shamus O'Rourke will get his own story my life would be complete!
