AN EXCELLENT READ CHARACTER-WISE and who doesn't like his art?

He either tried too hard to convolute it or didn't give it enough consideration: it was over-macguffined. STILL AN EXCELLENT READ CHARACTER-WISE and who doesn't like his art? As a late 30s - early 60s film noir aficionado, having devoured just over 200 films), I can tell you that he bulls-eyed that feeling. It actually overwhelmed me right before I was 25% in. I don't ever remember such a feeling, even in much better noir stories, which means he's incredible at representing the intangible atmosphere.
