Cello Song: The Story of Nick Drake

By Jason

Nick Drake's life and career was like a shooting star--burning bright but fading fast. He only recorded three albums between 1969 and 1972, was plagued by self-doubt, and died at 26, in near-total obscurity. But in the years since, his sensitive folk stylings have been rediscovered and cited as a fundamental influence by artists including REM and The Cure. He has become an archetype of the misunderstood artist in his lifetime, his music considered true cult classics today.

In Cello Song, Norwegian cartoonist Jason chronicles his compelling story--the unfulfilled dreams, the crushing failures, and yet the delicate artistry at its heart. Jason's spare and deadpan style perfectly captures the haunting melancholy of Nick Drake's life, creating a poignant biography of a singular musician.
