And YOU Thought Living With a Goddess Would Be Heaven...

There's nothing funnier than Japanese Bathhouse Humor. Keiichi and the Goddesses win a free trip to a traditional bathhouse (little do they know it was set up by their demonic nemesis, Mara). Things go from bad to worse. First Urd decides to conduct her usual, "Big Sister Bust Size Check." Then Keiichi runs into Mara herself on the men's side of the bathhouse. And then there's the Karaoke war! And just when you thought it was safe, Mara has gone and made a demonic clone of everyone's favorite sake swilling Goddess, Urd. Hilarious Hijinx and Hottub humor. You gotta love it.

I like it.....it's neat...but a little...well-unusual.....I'd recomend it for older people...who understand it.

Absolutly Wonderful! one flaw...

I LOVED this GN! One of Kosuke's best! However, I don't really approve of whoever picked the cover art's choices...I DO enjoy Urd as a character, but I think it's about time to have another one in the spotlight! As far as I can see, Skuld is finally going to get a cover all to her own on "The Fourth Goddess". Can't wait! :) Anyways, as far as "Devil In Miss Urd" goes, great storyline. It really goes deep into the relationship dynamic between Urd and Mara. They want (?) to be friends, however, due to their jobs and positions in life, they can't really. All in all...great job! I LUV the humor Kosuke always throws in (although some of it is PG) and all I can say is KEEP 'EM COMIN! :)~ thats just my opinion, didn't say you'd agree

"Oh My Goddess!" keeps getting better!

Demands on my time and thoughts of more responsible ways to spend my money almost caused me to stop buying the "Oh My Goddess!" graphic novels with "Terrible Master Urd." The ending of that book was so perfect that I almost didn't want to have it ruined by knowing what came next.Boy, am I glad I chose to stick with the series. "The Devil in Miss Urd," the latest installment in Kosuke Fujishima's hilarious and touching "Oh My Goddess!" romantic comedy series continues to establish new high marks for quality in the series.The storyline of this installment once again takes a turn for the darker as Urd's evil half is exploited by the demonic Mara, partly as another scheme to drive Belldandy back to Heaven but also simply to return to the friendly relationship she enjoyed with Urd when they were kids. Mara being Mara once again fails to fully consider all ramifications of her plan... and the resulting *two* Urds may both die before the story is over.Fujishima's characters and their relationships continue to evolve in this volume--with Belldandy and Keiichi taking a backseat while Mara, Urd, and Skuld step into the spotlight. The art is, as always, the gorgeous mix of cartooniness and realism that Fujishima becomes increasingly adept at. In fact, I place Fujishima in the same class as Masamune Shirow--a writer/artist whose style should appeal even to those who don't general like "anime" and "manga.""The Devil in Miss Urd" may not be the best point for those unfamiliar with the series to jump on though... that would be "1-555-Goddess," even if Fujishima's art is a bit rough in it. Other good choices would be "Ninja Masters" or "Miss Keiichi," the two volumes immediately preceeding this one. But, if you have even a passing familiariaty with the characters of the "Oh My Goddess!" series, I give "The Devil in Miss Urd" my highest recommendation.

Urd shines in this volume

The Devil in Miss Urd is the ninth volume of Oh My Goddess published in English. Unlike most of the previous volumes, this one contains basically a single story (a second, very short one appears at the end), rather than the typical 3 or 4 smaller stories. This particular story is focused on the half-demon, half-goddess Urd--quite simply, if you like Urd, you'll like this volume; if not, you won't. Perhaps because it is focused on Urd, this volume is a little less innocent than others. For example, the opening scene at a hot springs relies on strategic placement of Urd's hair to avoid nudity, and there's some sexually suggestive shenanigans going on. Nothing offensive, really, but enough that I would think twice about letting someone under 13 read it. With that slight warning out of the way, this is a very entertaining volume. More often than not, Urd stole the page in previous volumes; here, as the focus of attention, she shines. While there's no deep philosophical meaning buried in here, we get to see what makes Urd tick, and it's both funny and charming.As usual, the artwork is gorgeous and the translation and writing are topnotch. This volume is a step back up from the previous one (which was also lacking in innocence, but didn't work as well), and is one of my favorite volumes. Highly recommended, especially if you like Urd.
