Changed my thinking...

I really appreciate the insights in this book. It helped me see that the issue is not so much the weight and dieting but what causes me to place so much emphasis on this area of my life. I plan to reread this book so I don't forget what it has taught me.

Excellent Advice in a Really Annoying Form

Jantz takes the reader beyond "eat this way, exercise that way, and you'll lose weight." For someone like me, who has lost the same 60+ lbs five times now, moving beyond diets and exercise to get to the heart of the problems causing my overeating is liberating. The advice in the book is excellent. However, it's very Christian-oriented, which is both wearing and annoying for a non-Christian like me. It's worth the read, but only if you can get past the religion-pushing. I can. My folks shoved religion down my throat my whole life; I can tune it out if I work at it. If you're willing to put up with that one (admittedly major) drawback, the book is excellent.

Really uplifting information

This book takes you away from counting calories and constant focus on dieting and food. Written by a psychologist who has vast experience in the field of helping those of us that have come to realize that food isn't the problem, it's only our way of medicating pain. There are excellent suggestions for the how and why of permanent weight loss. There is nothing complicated reccommended. I have been using this revolutionary approach for several weeks and have seen the results; not just in weight loss but in a new freeing thought process. Dr. Jantz has lead me to live by this motto: "progress not perfection".
