An incoherent ending

The first two books in this series are interesting takes on a traditional zombie apocalypse tale, but this third one is... baffling. The narrative is incoherent and rushed, there is a great deal of filler and misplaced humor, and the whole book smacks of anticlimax. I purchased this book after having found the second one on a markdown rack some 13 years ago, and now I'm frankly irritated that I had to wait so long for so disappointing a finale.
