Bold, harsh subjects to face

The best holocaust story I've read in quite some time. Keeps you on the edge and really well told. The writer just sucks you into the store.

We must NEVER forget

These are stories of history we must never forget! They are all a very important part of our history. The story of Lale & Gita is amazingly heroic. Many of us couldn't imagine that these events ACTUALLY happened. Heather Morris does an amazing job getting to reading to see thru the eyes of Lale (so to speak). I greatly enjoyed this book. It was a tearjerker for sure. I had to take lil "breathers" at times from the book due to the content. While reading the book my daughter asked me " Why are your eyes so read?" I told her this is a very sad book at times. In the end love prevails and concours all.

Touching and inspiring story

I finished this book within one day! Definitely worth it. Educational in a sense, but allegedly not 100% historically accurate. Still both a horrifying and beautiful book.

Wow!

If you have any interest in history, this is a must read.

We Must NEVER Forget

The horrors of the Holocaust are recounted by those who lived through it. It's difficult to read how cruelly one group of humans can treat another.

A must read for everyone!

Those who ignore the past are destined to repeat it. This is a must read for everyone!

Not in very good condition

Cover is bent and in fact looks like the o Hole top of the book was bent.

Highly Recommend

Heart wrenching and also heartwarming. In such a time when all feels lost, to find the one who gives you hope and the will to persevere. I absolutely loved this book and felt as though I knew the people personally.

Never Forget

I finished this book in less than 24 hours. It was an amazing, personal, heart wrenching story and look behind the barbed wire fences. I'm not going to say much about the book, because it is profound on its own. Every time I hear a survivor speak, they always say that they share their story so that the world will say "never again." It is horrifying that people ever allowed it to happen in the first place. This is what happens when you hate people based off their ethnicity and try to claim other humans are inferior. We are all made the same way. The only inferiority is whether you hold hatred in your heart against others. It seems impossible that a story like this book can be true, but I am SO glad that it is. I needed to hear that love can win. 10/10 recommend

An amazing story!

This is one of the most amazing stories I've ever read, and it's true. What this man was able to do was incredible. A must read!

Hard to put down book

This book tells of the horrific time in history and also about determination, strength and love of brave people.

Could not put it down

So good. Based on a true story of love and a human will to survive

An unexpected view of tragedy

Beautiful reminder how trauma is trauma in any form and every experience. Love the perspective and the recognition given to other perspectives of such historical events.

I wasn't ready for the story to end

I love a good WWII book with a good ending. Easy, fast read.

Good read

Book is well written, short, easy read. Very sad stories but had an uplifting end. I can't say the story being sad is a impact on my review due to the fact ots about Aushwitz, what happened there is devastating.

Amazing Read!

A touching book that I recommend to everyone.

Based on the truest and saddest of stories

This book definitely gives you a firsthand look into what people experienced in Auschwitz. I feel like everyone should read this story if they want to truly understand what people like Gita and Lale went through. It’s harsh, and yet they both still remained determined to survive together through one of the worst experiences in mankind’s history. If you’re considering reading this book, please do it.

Thought-provoking and eye-opening

What would you do to survive? To make sure the one you loved survived? At times, this is almost unbearable but then something gives you hope... just when you think you can't read another page, a small miracle happens to the characters and forces you to continue. This story is full of peaks and valleys and it was because of those fleeting moments, those survivors were able to go on and live to tell the tale, so that humanity could learn from these events.

Awesome Book.

Quick Book. Easy read. Gripping

What a book 10++++ rating

If your looking for a history book and a page turning cant put down book this is one....I read it in two days.lol a must read.

I could not put it down!

I read this in one sitting. I could not stop reading. It was so emotional and just incredible. Thought it is hard to swallow the in humane acts in history. I would highly highly recommend.

Page Turner!!

What a great, easy to read book. I could not put this book down. I was able to really visualize the agony, and pain, but it also paints a beautiful love story within it. Has a little bit of everything for all readers!

Very moving read!

This was a short read but I loved every page! Very moving story of love, compassion and the fight to live. I couldn’t wait to read Cilka’s story... which was also great!

Wow... I haven't read a good book in a while.

Wow... I haven't read a good book in a while. Although a very sad read, the book is so well written and you're 100% invested into the characters in the book who are real. I cried a lot while reading this book, but it's such a beautiful love story. This will be a book I will always remember and not many books leave a mark this one left a huge mark. Buy this book. I don't normally write reviews but this one is a must.

Compelling and A Must Read Book for Everyone

We were never told in High School about what specifically happened at the concentration camps. I am immersed in reading books about the Holocaust and have read: The Nightengale by Kristin Hannah, Lilac Girls and Lost Roses by Martha Hall Kelly, The Alice Network by Kate Quinn I want to read Cilka’s Journey by Heather Morris but this book is virtually unavailable as you only receive 1 copy per month.

A compelling love story

I felt I was there with the characters and the narrative of the book made me feel like I was watching a classic love story from the 1920's where heroes were heroes, women were women and love can thrive in the most horrific situations.

Excellent!

Gripping story. Beautifully told. Unexpected plot twists. Couldn't put it down.

Great Read

This is an amazing book!!! I couldnt put it down!!!

Highly recommend

This is a very moving book and a great read. I could hardly put the book down when I first started reading it. I would not recommend the book for someone with a light stomach, it does have some gruesome parts.

Very good

This book was a great read. I couldn’t put it down. I read it in less than 2 days. I totally recommend this book for those of you who like reading books about the holocaust.

It's always fun to see how good books get adapted for the screen. But sometimes, this happens before we've had the chance to read the source material. Or maybe we just want to reread the book before we watch. Here are thirteen of the books behind the buzziest book-to-screen adaptations.
