Inside, you'll find:

Every technique explained from first principles: coiling, stitching, starting a base, building a wall, and finishing a rimTwelve structured projects, from a 45-minute coaster to a large storage basket, arranged from easiest to most involvedHonest troubleshooting for exactly where beginners get stuckA materials and tools chapter that assumes nothing you don't already own

Whether you're drawn to it for the mindful, repetitive rhythm of the stitch or the satisfaction of turning a free, renewable material into something useful, this book gives you everything you need to start today.

I didn’t read the whole book description online initially to see that this book was AI generated! My fault and I learned! As a pine needle coiler of nearly 20 years, I am always looking for “how to” books to share with my students whenever I teach. In my opinion, this book would only confuse a beginner! “Long” pine needles are listed as materials to be used but illustrations show needles from short length conifers (maybe an inch) to modest length pine needles. No mention of long leaf pine, widely used my majority of pine needles coilers. Coiling technique descriptions are very short, not fully explained, and, therefore, insufficient. Most illustrations used don’t match the coiling instructions presented. Some illustrations are of round reed projects, a totally different kind of basket making! Other illustrations appear to be rattan. This book is not a book a beginning pine needle coiler could comfortably use, in my opinion, and based on my years of experience. The best book for beginners, again in my opinion, is still Judy Mallow’s book, “Pine Needle Basketry”. I will say the cover of the Lorne book is beautiful, but that’s all the positive I have for it.
