amazing site so many good books

great book!

I bought this book for my nephew. He had borrowed it from a teacher and was so enthralled in it and drawing. I gave him the opportunity to select one for his birthday and he chose two. He loves them? He really has become a great artist using this product.

easy to follow

I have no art history. This book is easy to follow. I had only reading and practices for three days and I was making good human features. I really recommend practicing cylinders and circles, and just going over the basic. Do not move on until you are confident. After only 3 days I started to recognize basic structure of animals. Something i would of never of guessed with out the the book. this book is great too because it teaches you how to illustrate and create your own style. This book is a good motivation too. I recommend this book to people that have passion for telling story. I also recommend it to start a new hobby. This book is great for beginners.

Wonderful for Beginners

I bought this book a couple of years ago. It helped me SO MUCH. My drawing skills improved almost overnight, and so did a few friends' of mine (whom I recommended the book to). It gives basic insight on building shapes, and tells you why you draw things the way that you do. It's not confusing at all; it's very clear, and never boring. For the beginning mangaka, or for reviewing body types and how to draw them, it is excellent.

Great for Beginners like me!

This book is a great starting place for beginning manga artists such as myself. It gives real in-depth information and photos to give the artist/reader a good idea of what features should ideally look like. It gives an awesome starting point for poses and features, and even a little background information. There are sections for young, teenage, and adult males AND females, including sections on specific features. I'm thrilled to have made this purchase, and I recommend it! Especially to beginners.

I gave this guide to my grandson, age 12, for a summer project. He said to give it 5 stars. He has produced some exceptional pictures. Even took it with him for a one week camping trip. Kudos to John Layman.
