The Structure of American Industry

I used this book for an MBA class where it was recommended by the professor. The book consists of in-depth analysis of 14 industries in America including agriculture, petroleum, cigarettes, beer, music recording, airlines, health care, college sports, and a number of others. I have not read all of the chapters but have read enough to get a good sense of the book. The analysis is thorough, informative, and well written. If you want to read about these industries and don't have access to college databases, this is a very good book. If, however, this book is recommended but not required for a college class I would not buy it. In the end I found that the University database had more information and the purchase of this expensive book was rather unnecessary.

The book provides great case studies about several American industries. It gives insights into how selected industries have evolved and how the major players interact. If you're interested in the topics presented in the book, you will not be disappointed. The analysis is accurate and very informative.
