A great book : )

I really wish I could give this book more then 5 stars. It was really that good. OMG I could not put the book down therefore it took me a whole day to finish it. The whole concept was intruging, being a fan of the Romeo and Juliet classic I must say this book definetly had a better headline and ending. I like the fact the it was black and hispanic and that they did not kill themselves at the end.It was altogether a well written book.Anyone who knows a good book by the back and the front will Love this book. SO GO pick and up and U will not and should not be diappointed.......~keep it real~YAZ

Young Love

Romiette and Julio, a novel relating to the children of todays world. A story filled with violence, danger, but best of all love and a little bit of comedy. Romiette a young black female fell in love with a hispanic brother named Julio, who in return lovd her back. Now a days you would think that it would always be the parents to prevent young love, but now things are changing. A gang that ride by the name of Devildogs refuse to acknoledge the fact that one of their skin tones is dating another. If you've already read the novel Romeo and Juliet I suggest you read the remix: Romiette and Julio. In this book you'll be able to relate so many problems of today with the ones in this one book. This novel has the power to make you laugh, cry, and so angry all at the same time, so my advice to ya'll youngin's jump out this world for a while, and read yourself through another, because there is no other place better to run away to then in a book, exspecially one made just for you...

best book i've read

This book is so good that you will finish this book less than two weeks... It only took me two days to read this book and I loved it. If this book had another part to it I would buy it and I will never let it go so read this book. I recommend this book to people who really like long lasting chapters and that like a lil romance.Brandi Bobo

Romiette and Julio

I enjoyed this book tremendously. It is written for today's young adult readers, discussing current issues in a very readable format. It shows alternating points of view, employing various techniques such as journals and internet chat room dialogue, to develop the characters and move the action along. My eighth grade students love it. They are using it as a part of literary circles centered on the theme of adolescence.

A touching revelation of romance in the face of racism

Romiette and Julio, demonstrate courage, if not common sense, in facing their tormentors. Draper portrays both teenagers and the issues of racism and gang violence with sensitivity. Her writing will keep readers on the edge of the seats waiting for the conflict to be resolved.
