Picks up where it left off...

I was blown away by the first book "One Last Breath". I couldnt wait to get the second installment of the series "One Wrong Step". The first book was really focusing on Feenie, Marco, and getting her ex husband behind bars for his illegal acts. Marco was searching for the same man for killing his sister and her partner. "One Wrong Step" continues the story of Cecelia and playboy reporter John McAllister, and Celcelias ex husband. The first chapter will have you hooked on this book immediately. I was hoping for a third installment of the series, but it doesnt look like there will be another one coming out. This author has a way of writing that will keep you interested and hooked from the first paragraph. This was a phenomenal debut series. I will definitely be reading more of her work.

One Wrong Step by Laura Griffin

Awesome. I have another author to add to my 'buy' list. One more home run with me and she'll be on the 'auto-buy' list! And I'm absolutely gobsmacked that this is only her SECOND full-length novel! Just incredible how good these are for such a 'new' name. "One Wrong Step" by Laura Griffin was a smart, action-packed romantic suspense novel that hit my sweet spot. The characters are just filled with foibles which makes for great twists and turns in the story. And the action? It's intelligent with no TSTL events thrown in just to 'move the plot' and irritate me! And really good sexual tension between the lead characters leading to some steamy sex scenes that are the icing on the cake. Celie was a secondary character in "One Last Breath", but you don't need to have read that book to enjoy this one. Her husband became involved with cooking the books for a South American drug-lord. Then when Celie 'busted' him, he tried to have her best friend killed! When he disappeared into Mexico, Celie was relieved and immediately filed for divorce. It turns out that he left behind a 'little something' and the book opens with him paying a visit to Celie...an hour later he's dead. Celie's best friend already warned her about reporter John McAllister. He's a gorgeous playboy...the last thing Celie needs right now. But as far as John's concerned, Celie's just...different. He's doesn't know what he wants with her, but it's not just fun and games. He admired her courage from afar ten years ago. About nine months ago he finally met her after she was almost killed. Now, she's in trouble again and this time he's not leaving. There is SO much going on in "One Wrong Step". Personal issues, hopes and dreams, safety, battered women/children, barreness, adoption, crime, bravery...I could just go on and on. I think that's what draws me into Griffin's stories so quickly...I try to put myself into the heroine's shoes and it seems all too easy to imagine. I could kick myself for letting "One Wrong Step" sit in my TBR until now. But her next novel, "Thread of Fear", will be out at the end of this month (Sep08) and you can bet it won't sit for even a day after I pick it up!!

One Wrong Step is One Right Purchase!

Love `em and leave `em reporter John McAllister approaches Celie Wells for information on a news story concerning Celie's dead ex-husband. But from the moment she greets him, McAllister knows there is a lot more to the story...and to Celie. As the story unfolds, McAllister, playboy extraordinaire, realizes he's met the woman he can't walk away from. When Celie Wells opens the door to her deadbeat ex-husband, she never imagines the trouble he'll bring to her life again. Within hours though, he's murdered, the FBI comes knocking with questions she'd rather not answer, and a ticked off, ripped off drug kingpin sets his sights on Celie. But the most dangerous threat of all? John McAllister and the feelings his touch, words and actions stir within her. Reading One Wrong Step reminded me why I love this new author. Once again, she's given us a well-crafted suspense and a true romance with believable characters. In Celie, Ms. Griffin has created a wonderfully complex heroine who is definitely worth rooting for from page one. As for McAllister, it was fun to watch him discover his true feelings for Celie as he worked to peel back the layers of her personality and to protect her from the bad guys. And I can't forget Ms. Griffin's secondary characters who carve out their own niche in the story and in the reader's mind. This is a fun read you won't want to miss. Laura Griffin has a solid spot on my list of top ten romantic suspense authors!

Page Turner!

I stayed up way to late turning the pages of this romantic suspense. The story was action packed - never a dull moment, and if you fell in love with Marco Juarez in Griffin's first book, you are going to be head-over-heels for John McAllister. This was such a fun read. Any word on whether Griffin is going to write a third book in this series? I really enjoyed the scenes in the book with Kate Keplar and would love to read more on her.
