Minneapolis Prose: January - February 2026

Bob Nuchow, a Vietnam era U.S. Army veteran, past Teamsters, community organizer, author of A DREAM NEVER REACHED from my DARKNESS OF THE LIGHT 8-book series.

I had long stopped fighting the good fight after almost 50 years of activism, including threatened of being hanged for mutiny leading an active-duty G.I. strike, jailed. Then back stateside in New York City, beaten unconscious intervening to stop a bloodied, unconscious person's blackjack, baton assault by three police during a peaceful sit-in.

My days of activism had ended a decade ago no longer having the energy, resources, lacking the will recently in the few years I have left after turning 70, as a 19-year cancer survivor.

Sadness, hopelessness had overwhelmed me in an ever-burdened fight struggling to overcome a lifetime of depression. I has been doing what I could using writing as a salve to continue facing today's daily atrocities.

I could no longer ignore today's dismal and dark days of hate and fear that led to the public brutal Minneapolis murders of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Jeffery Pretti. I began writing political prose again. I began a daily ritual of writing, creating memes, reading, recording, and my Minneapolis prose from January through February 2026.

ICE, local police, attacked, shot pepper spray, beat, arrested peaceful folks angry, mourning, and honoring an innocent life brutally murdered by ICE at over a thousand rallies nationwide. My frustration grew seeing rallies for over a year continue leaving people exposed, to be brutalized with the always ominous possibility of being killed by ICE.

Memories being in a beautiful sea of humanity singing We shall Overcome at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's Washington DC I Have a Dream declaration had me face today's darkness we were still trying to overcome someday. I put out a call with my prose to sister and brother military veterans to reach out to connect and network with, meet, educate and help train their neighbors to become prepared to finally protect and defend against the ICE invasion and brutal war on Americans in the communities.

The fight for Dr. Martin Luther King's dream is far from over. We must all continue to fight the good fight for freedom, justice, equal opportunity for all to have, be able to reach and realize their dream.
