Good Overall Review For The Experienced Administrator

I get very disappointed with people who expect to read a book and pass a Certification exam. The objective behind reading the book is to expose yourself to the software and famliarize yourself with the sections of which you do not understand. The only way to pass and exam is combine experience with the software, books, manuals, and sometimes test prep software. Well anyway, this book is very well written and has a wealth of information for the experienced administrator who needs to brush up or someone totally new to the software. If you expect to read the book and sit for the exam well then this is the wrong book for you. But if You are like me and like to be more than a paper MCSE this book is a great place to start. The only problem I did find is it takes a short look at Index Server and MTS which are two very important parts of IIS 4.0

Its always amusing reading others comments. If you are looking for a book that will teach you EVERYTHING you will EVER have to know about IIS, Proxy Server, etc. then this book won't help. What you are looking for then is someone who actually knows the stuff and has spent some time with the products - to give you a brain transfusion.This is a STUDY GUIDE folks. I hate to think people would expect a book to pass exams for them. It takes experience, time and persistance to learn something well. I certainly wouldn't hire someone like that... ticking time bombs, they are.This book was complete enough for me to take my hands on practice, some work on the job and apply those to learning more about the products. Passed IIS and Proxy and with some more hands on with the IEAK, expect I will be done that in the next week or two.A good value for someone who is prepared to take the time. Perhaps instead of Study Guides, they should refer to these books as Study 'Companions' - maybe then people will get a clue.
