Math Lessons for a Living Education 4 continues to follow the open and go, one lesson per week, approach that makes Master Books curriculum so user friendly. The first 6 weeks review previously learned concepts. New concepts are covered from weeks 7 to 30. The final 6 weeks are a review of the new material covered in level 4 that could be used over the summer to keep the concepts fresh going into the next level. Working with fractions in multiple ways is introduced: mixed numbers, multiplying fractions, equivalent fractions, converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, converting fractions to decimals and percents. Multiplying and dividing larger numbers is developed with continual practice of multiplication tables. Money, geometry, and working with charts/graphs is included. Everyday use of the concepts is encouraged through hands on projects, recipes, and word problems with day to day applications. Charlotte and Charlie’s family continues their journey in the opening chapter storyline of each lesson. A solutions manual is included in the back as well as a helpful manipulative section with aids for the student to use throughout the course. The hands on approach to fractions makes the concept much more accessible.
