Heartwarming story

Lovely weaving of Civil War history, the bond between a race horse and his trainer, fine arts and art restoration and a paleontologist with a big heart. We travel seamlessly between the 1860’s to today to uncover a beautiful story.

Intro to Geraldine Brooks…Wow!

The way Brooks marries an actual historical event with a current fictional story in this novel made for a truly fascinating read. It held my full attention all the way through to the last page. I am a true fan of her writing style. There’s a depth of emotional connectivity (whether love or hate) you’ll have to each character and that lasts in your memory far after you’ve finished the book. Her other novels like People of the Book, March and Year of Wonders are equally moving and worthy of reading.
