A Very Sweet And Wonderful Story

A very sweet story of Dulcie, a fairy that almost all the time is secondary and does not usually stand out much in the franchise; but that definitely ends up making us fall in love with her and her beautiful way to be. The story is solid, very entertaining and full of a magnificent message about giving value to people and their jobs, as well as how beautiful it is to feel love for what we do.

We LOVE this series!!!

We own all of this series! Started reading them when my daughter was 4 (she just turned 5 now), and they are age appropriate. Not too scary and always a happy ending. One book only takes us about 4-5 nights worth of reading together. The longer ones are good too "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg" and "Fairy Haven and the Quest for the Wand", but they are a little bit scarrier than the short books (more appropriate for ages 5-7 I would think).

Dulcie's Taste of Magic (Disney Fairies)

My daughter loves the series. It is light-hearted and always has a lesson to learn when the last chapter is finished.

Embracing Other "Talents!"

While researching children's books and trends, I discovered this book. I was attracted by the beautifully illustrated cover and by the story summary on back. Who can resist an adventure that includes a determined little fairy who's name means "sweet," a magical recipe written in ancient Leaf Lettering, and a direct career challenge from a snarky fairy named Ginger! I purchased this book, and I must say it is a delightful tale chock full of important lessons relevant for today's busy people / families--career & activity driven people who are too busy too appreciate who and what is around them. Dulcie, the main character, is a busy, busy baking fairy who learns to appreciate the jobs -- "the talents" --of other fairies while also learning to slow down and enjoy all the wonders that life offers. In her quest to create the ultimate Comfort Cake and secure her position as lead baker, she discovers new "magic" ---the everyday, but oh-so-powerful "magic" of personal identity, self-confidence, self-esteem, observation, courage, cunning, timing, understanding, trust, belief, effort, and teamwork. This book is a must read--whether one is 8 or 88. It is especially appropriate for family reading and discussions. Everyone who experiences this story can come away with a little treasure of inner wisdom.

The best so far

I am 26 and collecting these for my 4 yr old for when she is older. I have read them all and every one of them is a great story. They keep getting better and better. Dulcies Taste of Magic blows them all out of the water. Not only is it a story about realizing the hard work and sacrifice of others and the appreciation everyone desearves for their part, but it teachesother less obvious lessons. The fisrt is that sharing responsibility doesn't make you weak it makes you kind and smart. The second and most important is that you should never be too busy to make a friend. There is always someone to share what you are experiencing with. Having the adventure all to yourself may seem great but its the talking about it and sharing it with someone else that really makes it fun. I have to say that of all the Disney Fairy books, this one has not only the most heart but also the most wisdom. Enjoy your comfort cake!

A tasty treat

Like one of Dulcie's yummy confections, this sparkly fairy story seems sweet and lightweight. When you look deeper, however, there's also a bit of wisdom: an important lesson about jealousy and appreciation. The plot centers on Dulcie, a dedicated baking fairy who loses her top spot at the bakery while on a forced vacation. The story focuses on her efforts to win back her job and impress the other fairies. At the end, she understands her jealousy towards bossy fairy Ginger, and develops a deep appreciation for the talents of the other fairies living at Pixie Hollow. Thirty-two delicate watercolor illustrations bring the story to life. The charming cover includes sparkly pixie dust from Tinker Bell, leaning over to sniff Dulcie's cream horns, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls and other yummilicious goodies. The book's reading level is 2.7.
