A must read in this world of pain and sorrow

Ravi Zacharias hits the nail on the head with this one. One of the best books I have ever read. Whether you are an avid reader of religious materials or not, Ravi uses easy to understand illustrations to answer and explain some of lifes most puzzling questions. Great gift for someone who has or is going through some difficult trials in life and is wondering why.

Outstanding

Ravi Zacharias articulates answers to life's deepest problems in a manner that satisfies both the mind and the heart. Both his intellect and his compassion are evident in this work which has bolstered my faith and helped me to find meaning in spite of difficult circumstances. A book I will reread frequently.

A Classic in our Midst

Dr. Zacharia presents a compelling argument for the nearness, constancy, sovereignty and omnipotence of God in our daily life. He presents these concepts in a new format. A format compose of an elegant style, blend with theology and philosophy at a personal level. St. Agustin was right when he said "the true philosopher is the lover of God". No doubt that this book addresses the pain and longings of our generation, perhaps of our species. His chapter about "the cry to know God" is the best introduction I've read so far, and the rest of the book gets better. Defenetly Cries of the Heart will became a classic!

Honors the Mind, yet gives comfort to the Heart

As a student of Philosophy and have been studying the problem of Evil (theodicy) for a number of years now, this book is long over due. Now there are an innumerable amount of books on this issue, what makes this book any better you may ask? Three points on that 1) I never said it is better, but it is necessary and culturally relevant for our understanding today. 2) Most books in this area deal with the question in either an esoteric philosophical or theological way, that leaves our heart out in the cold, or they warm the heart, and leave the mind out to freeze to intellectual death. Where are the books NOW that honor the mind and give comfort to the heart! I present this book by Dr. Zacharias as not only helpful in dealing with the perplexing questions that have philosophers holding their head in heart wrenching sweat, but also for the young spouse who just lost their best friend in a destructive fire. Most of all it helps to shine the Light of the SON on the shadow of evil. Give it a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Beautifully describes man's need to worship God.

Dr. Zacharias expands on C. S. Lewis' explanation of mankind's search for pleasure and love. Provides solid answers as to the necessary components for proper and successful worship to God. Provides answers for man's inate loneliness and identifies genuine and proper worship to God as the only solution. One of the best books of this century for one sincerely looking for a closer relationship with God and an answer to this world's loneliness.
