Case conceptualization and treatment planning skills have always been important in providing quality care to clients. These skills are even more vital in today s managed care market, as they can be used to document the need a client has for treatment and support interventions for brief, intermediate, or long- term services. As readers progress through Pearl S. Berman s Case Conceptualization and Treatment Planning text, they will practice designing case conceptualizations and treatment plans from a diversity of theoretical perspectives, including behavioral, cognitive, process/experimental, family systems, dynamic, and transtheoretical. They will also practice integrating important domains of human complexity such as development, sexual orientation, gender, culture, and violence into their clinical work so that treatment can be individualized to the unique needs of the client. The intent of practicing case conceptualization and treatment planning using diverse theoretical perspectives and domains of human complexity is to encourage scholarly and flexible thinking. The text also encourages readers to identify their own personal style and use it effectively in their professional writing. Professionals and students in psychology, social work, clinical/counseling psychology, human services and nursing will delight in this practical volume to guide them through designing case conceptualizations and treatment planning.

Excellent Resource

I am using this for my Internship I class in graduate school. It is concise, provides good information on how to conceptualize a client's mental health problems through various lens' such as developmental history, gender, interpersonal relationships, etc. It also encourages the counseling student to develop his or her own writing style when it is necessary to write reports or case conceptualizations.
