Daniel and Brenna never wanted fame or fortune. They simply wanted to be together, creating beautiful music-Brenna with her hauntingly beautiful voice and Daniel beside her at the piano. Still, Daniel carried a deep dream of one day playing guitar in a real band.
Wanting to help him, Brenna finds Daniel a struggling rock band looking for a guitarist. But it quickly becomes clear that what the band truly wants is Brenna herself. They agree to let Daniel stay, yet Brenna's elegant style-shaped by Cole Porter classics and timeless standards-clashes sharply with the band's hard-driving rock sound. Even so, raw talent cannot be ignored. Before long, Brenna is studying under legendary vocal coach Mill Elbers, while Daniel trains with Zap, an aging jazz-blues pianist whose lessons transform the way he hears music-and the way he sees himself.
As the band begins to rise, so do the pressures of success. Brenna is suddenly handed the opportunity of a lifetime: a performance at the Hollywood Bowl with one of the biggest acts in music. But fame comes with a cost. Separated from Daniel, isolated from the outside world, and pushed beyond her emotional limits, Brenna begins to unravel beneath the weight of ambition and manipulation.
From a distance, Daniel watches Brenna's star rise with growing fear. The larger her world becomes, the more he worries there may no longer be a place for him in it. What began as two people sharing music out of love slowly becomes a heartbreaking question: can their relationship survive the very dream they chased together?
Are We A Band Yet? is a passionate coming-of-age music drama about love, artistry, sacrifice, and the emotional cost of pursuing greatness.
