Not to be missed

I'm a sucker for cowboys. Just the title alone had me requesting this book when it was up for grabs. Having the book written by Debra Salonen was an added bonus. I've enjoyed all her books since I read HIS DADDY'S EYES. This one is no different. Anne can't find it in her to refuse her stepfather's request to help run his ranch while he fulfills a promise he made to her deceased mother. After getting a divorce from her husband, Anne has spent years focused on her job and her taking care of her daughter, Zoey, who is prone to asthma attacks. Even though she agrees to leave New York for the summer and head to Nevada, she has reservations about how her young daughter's health will handle the change. Not to mention how she's supposed to deal with the other news her stepfather gives her -- his grandson, Will, is also coming to spend the summer at the ranch while waiting for the doctor's OK to go back to bull-riding. Can she spend that much time with Will and not remember the crush she had on him years ago? Will may have not seen Anne in a few years, but he's never forgotten how beautiful she is, nor the kiss they shared fifteen years before. His main reason in coming to the ranch is to help his grandfather. He's also there to kill time while waiting to fully heal from his last bull-riding accident, but Anne and Zoey slowly worm their way into his heart. Has him wondering what's really important in life, and if he could make the decision that will change his life forever. A touching story of love, healing and taking chances, A COWBOY SUMMER is one not to be missed. With each book I've read by her, Ms. Salonen seems to just get better and better. For a story that will touch your heart and leave you smiling, pick up A COWBOY SUMMER. Mad

Touching!

Anne Fraser is a woman with simple dreams...to take care of her daughter and succeed at her career. Rather than climbing the corporate ladder, she's spending the summer with a cowboy...a cowboy who touches her heart. A cowboy who steals her daughter's heart. A cowboy who's going back to riding bulls when the summer's over. Which is fine since Anne is going back to the city. Two people, two different dreams, one mighty love. Is there anyway to bring them all together? Debra Salonen shows that sometimes dreams can change...and sometimes those changes are for the better. After all, what could be better than love?

From the ?Home on the Ranch? series

Eight-year-old Zoey does not mind emotional blackmail to convince her mother to keep her promise of visiting her family's ranch. Anne Fraser's mother passed away before she fulfilled her lifelong dream of travel, and her husband has vowed to take her along those planned byways post-humorously. Anne's stepfather has a grandson, Will Cavanaugh, whom he also persuades to help out during tourist season. Despite her concerns regarding her daughter's serious asthma and her unresolved attraction for Will, Anne puts her life on hold to go to Silver Rose for the summer. Will comes home to take care of the ranch while Anne handles the guest operations. Anne still finds the one who gave her that all-important first kiss wildly attractive. Now virtual strangers, Anne and Will have become business partners for the summer. With his rodeo career on hold for the summer while he heals from yet another injury, Will finds surprising satisfaction in the operation of Silver Rose. Perhaps the influence of a spirited sprite and her sexy mother might a bit to do with his attitude. But regardless of their attraction, Anne and Will have virtually nothing in common and career considerations at the end of the summer. Author Debra Salonen has a gift for choosing unexpected characterizations to add zest to her narrative. In A COWBOY SUMMER showcases a remarkable young girl with the spirit of a warrior, the wonder of a tomboy, and the challenges of asthma Her bold adventurous nature lends the novel a strong sense of presence as she connects her mother back to her roots. Indeed, Anne grieves the loss of her mother, finding her touches in surprising detailed instructions for thinning garden carrots or in the stories of her generous heart reported by her mother's many friends. Moreover, Anne's journey to healing mirrors Will's as they both find courage to follow their hearts and a generous dose of fun in one busy eight-year-old. A COWBOY SUMMER comes highly recommended.
