insightful

I'm expecting my first child and have made this book a daily read. The author is wonderfully insightful, on a spiritual and practical level. Each chapter is filled with encouragement and compassion. The author presses you to make the most of each moment- I really think this book would be a useful spiritual companion even outside of pregnancy. This will be my gift of choice to any friend or family member expecting. I plan on getting Penny's other books, as well.

Really Helpful Spiritual Reading

I agree with the other two reviewers- this is a completely helpful book. I took comfort from the prayer after a miscarriage, and now that I am expecting again, I find so much useful spiritual guidance. Another friend who is on bedrest found that the author's bedrest prayer is really helping her to get through this tough time. A book that is practical and Catholic- there is even a chapter on dealing with in-laws. Highly recommended!

After being bombarded with copious articles from so-called "parenting" magazines, the Catholic mother can become terribly discouraged -- until she picks up this book. Don't waste your time on "What To Expect When You're Expecting" and "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy". All you need is this book. Agnes Penny shows in her refreshing, concise way how God's hand guides you throughout pregnancy. She addresses just about every possible scenario that could come up in your pregnancy and how the Lord uses each to draw us closer to Him. All we have to do is cooperate with God's graces, and this book is a guide for you to help you do this. It reminds you at the times of your greatest morning sickness, backaches, or whatever your particular cross may be that He is in charge and you have the golden opportunity to unite yourself to Him for the salvation of your soul and that of your little child. As a previous reviewer has said....I can only echo her words...."don't be pregnant without it."

This meditation companion was just what I needed as a mother expecting her 8th baby, and the previous pregnancy ending in miscarriage. This book is expressly Catholic, which was great by me. The lives of the Married Saints were a real inspiration. Every pregancy is so different, yet what she has to say about the different stages of pregancy in each life situation was beautiful to ponder!
