A respectable book with half drawings, half photos.

183 pages, 11 3/4" tall x 8 3/4". The text is virtually all in English, German and French. There's a 7 page combination time line of his life and listing of each building that got constructed. There's about 18 photos that fill the page, always an excellent thing to do in a large FLW photo book. There's about 68 pages with architectural drawings and several of them are on parts of each facing page while others share a page with a photo. Most of those drawings are in color though the dominant color of them is a tan. Some of those drawings are a bit too light and some would benefit from being printed larger due to the detail of the drawings. Two drawings get that treatment taking up both facing pages. There's about 8 pages of just a drawing or two drawings and about 3 half facing pages with a single drawing. There's about 46 pages with color photos. There's about 43 pages with black and white photos. About half the photos are exterior shots and about half are interiors. There's 12 pages of text only and that's in the introductory essay. The information is nice to have but not earth shattering. I like this book. It's a nice mix of photos sizes, of drawings and photos and uses its size nicely. I suppose I prefer to have fewer black and white photos and for more of the drawings to be printed darker. The large drawings are some of the bigger ones I've seen in such books. Certainly, if you can get this for a discounted price I recommend you buy it, a fine addition to any large FLW photo book collection. While reviewing the book I talked my way from 3 1/2 stars to 4. I'm happy to own it and glad I could get it at a discounted rate.
