The story is an allegory for the eternal conflict between light and darkness, following the clash between the Goddess of Dawn and an ancient Sorcerer. Seeking immortality, the Sorcerer betrayed his ability to love and now survives by parasitizing the light of others. He attempts to trap the Goddess in an illusory time capsule, but she manages to break free when she realizes that true power lies not in being a "river" that exhausts itself, but in being a "source" that reveals a person's own potential. The book explores themes of self-denial, the ego, and the courage to confront one's own shadow.
