Every Catholic should read this book!

Lorene Hanley Duquin has done her homework here. In this one volume of less than 230 pages Duquin seamlessly blends first person accounts, sobering statistics and insightful analyses to make this book both very readable yet not overly simplistic in tackling this very large subject. I can personally relate to much of what she writes about because I am one of those who, many years ago, left the Catholic Church to seek "greener pastures." By the grace of God I'm back and loving the Church more than I ever dreamed possible. Sadly my experience is not shared by those millions of "lapsed Catholics" who have not and may never return. What I appreciate the most about Lorene Duquin's book is her successful attempt to balance the experience of those leaving with the experiences of those close to them (parents, friends, spouses, pastors, etc.)and the resultant guilt, pain and frustration which sometimes lingers for years. I also appreciate the helpful resources section in the back of the book in which she lists sources of information & support (books, websites, Catholic & non-Catholic organizations & support groups) where the reader might go for further help or more information on a particular aspect of this subject. I hope this book gets a wide readership in Catholic circles. It deserves it.
