British Chick Lit

A celebrity wedding cements three friend's relationships, when the wedding planner Sarah, asks two friends to help with the event. Elsa, the dressmaker, has helped Sarah with wedding creations at another wedding, and Bron, a hairdresser and makeup artist, has as well. When an American film star asks Sarah to plan her English wedding, Sarah, Bron and Elsa come together to plan a large, celebrity wedding. They also fall in love along the way with various men who they have met at a previous weddings. This is a frothy and enjoyable story for light reading.

An easy, pleasant and cheerful read

A little different take for Fforde in that there are three women whom the story revolves around with of course, three male interests. Good characters, fun story and the usual angst over impending deadlines.

Light and Sweet Like a Delicious Piece of Wedding Cake!

I really enjoyed reading Wedding Season! The novel features wedding planner Sarah who, ironically, does not believe that she will ever find love. Her two friends, Elsa and Bron, are in the wedding business as well and are also unlucky in love. I really liked reading about all three of these characters, their fun jobs, and their love(less) lives. Just when Sarah thinks that another wedding season has come to an end, she agrees to plan two more weddings on the same day and in only two months. One is for a major movie star and the other is for Sarah's own sister. The interactions between Sarah and her sister are great to read about, as Sarah's sister wants a fairy tale wedding on a limited budget and is driving Sarah absolutely nuts. If you have ever planned or are currently planning a wedding or think you may have to plan one someday soon, you will revel in all of the details that wedding planning entails and that Fforde chronicles in this engaging read. As the wedding planning busily continues, the three friends meet a few men who may just change their minds about love. The romances that develop are sweet, touching, and a little sexy too! The novel is fun to read as Sarah, Elsa, and Bron seem to really find themselves (and possibly love) while crazily trying to pull off two weddings on the same day. This book is definitely light and fun, but it is also intelligently written. It was released at the perfect time, as probably a lot of readers are looking for a breezy beach read for the Spring and Summmer seasons! I highly recommend Wedding Season and hope you enjoy it!

lovely!

What a delightful book. The thing i love the most about Miss Katie's books is the English view of everyday living and adventures in each one. This is one of my favourites of hers - definitely going in the re-read pile. (Flora's Lot/Bidding for Love was similar, but one is even lighter) How to describe? It's like a lovely refreshing breeze on an warm summer's day, or that perfect light lemony creamy dessert after a meal... i find myself smiling just to reminisce over all the adventures. So here i am, waiting for the next one! :)

another delightfully funny and dramatic read from katie fforde

I am a huge fan of Katie Fforde, and I'm in the midst of planning a wedding, so I eagerly awaited my copy of Wedding Season to arrive from interlibrary loan. As usual, Katie did not disappoint. Wedding Season followed three friends: Sarah, a wedding planner whose secretly pregnant sister and a major U.S. movie star have decided to get married on the same day with only a few months notice; Bron, a hairstylist in an unhappy relationship; and Elsa, a talented dressmaker. The three consider themselves friends and co-workers of sorts, as they often work the same weddings. It was refreshing to have three main characters, and thus three romances going on. Katie Fforde writes consistently delightful modern, British romantic comedy of manners novels. Her heroines always manage to be easy to relate to, yet inspiring and independent. It was refreshing to see these three learn to rely on one another and a few other helpful hands along the way. As a bride to be, I appreciated all of the laborious details of weddings. I find novels about wedding planning infinitely more helpful than the actual wedding planning books I've read thus far! Also, Katie Fforde is on twitter (@katiefforde), and she responds to reads, which is amazing.
