Book Overview

Three friends. Three pasts. One journey to beautiful.

Serena never thought she'd have children. Now she has two active two-year-old boys. But instead of being overjoyed, she's overwhelmed. Did she make the wrong choice in giving up her successful career to be a stay-at-home mom?

Tawana, an ambitious new lawyer, is trying to pull her life together, but her past keeps getting in the way. An incredible opportunity at a prestigious law firm forces her to confront her demons. Can her new responsibilities fit with her growing faith?

Erika's estranged and once-abusive husband wants her back. He says he's changed. He's even going to church. But is he telling the truth? Or is he just smooth-talking her back into a bad situation?

Watercolored Pearls is a story of three women who, despite their less-than-perfect circumstances, watch their friendships with one another deepen--and their lives transform into something beautiful.

"Adams tells a captivating story that takes readers through the life journeys of three different women. They learn that they will struggle, endure, and triumph, becoming greater and stronger women of God than they ever thought they could be."--Kendra Norman-Bellamy, Essence bestselling author

The best one yet Stacy!

I mean talk about good. What drama! Friends and Faith. It's one of those books that you have to read when you're really want to escape to another world...yet know the people you're visiting while you're there. It's a great book. Stacy Hawkins Adams is my hero. She ought to let Tyler Perry read this one - it's sure to be a movie. Great stuff - very inspirational! Pam Perry Chocolate Pages Reviews

Watercolored Pearls

Watercolored Pearls is the latest novel by Stacy Hawkins Adams. If you haven't read the prequels, Speak To My Heart and Nothing But The Right Thing, you should read them first so you can experience the full impact of Watercolored Pearls. Is it possible for a Christian to struggle with jealousy, insecurity, and discontentment? Serena McDaniels, the main character of Stacy Hawkins Adams' novel, Watercolored Pearls, would say yes. Pressed with being a mother of twins, a homemaker, and a Pastor's wife, Serena is starting to feel overwhelmed with all these responsibilities to balance. She seeks God about her negative feelings, but still seems to be dealing with the same frustrations day after day. It doesn't help that her husband, Micah, is being targeted in a flirtatious manner by his best friend's wife, Bethany. This woman, who was a thorn in Serena's flesh during Stacy's previous novel, seems to have a picture perfect life--with her "I'm better than you" attitude and expensive taste. If Bethany's life is so wonderful, then why is she seeking the company of Serena's husband? One of Serena's good friends, Erika, plays a prominent role in this novel because she still has to deal with her abusive husband, Elliott. Separated from Elliott for some time now, Erika has left the battered women's shelter and has pursued her dream of becoming an interior designer. Elliott continues to send his wife cards, pleading with her to take him back. He tries to convince her that he has changed and that he still loves her. Will Erika go back to Elliott or will she leave him for good and pursue a relationship with her special friend and boss, Derrick? Meanwhile Serena's mentee, Tawana, is all grown up, and is attending law school at Harvard. However, Tawana's desire for male companionship and alcohol may cause her to jeopardize her own life, her relationship with her daughter, and her reputation. At one point, Tawana even results to trying to sell her body in an effort to take care of some educational needs. Will she snap out of this trance or will she fall prey to her temptations? Furthermore, this story has a shocking twist that affects the lives of many of the characters for the worst. Despite these situations, Serena, Erika, Tawana, and others, will see a deeper need for God throughout this novel. Will these women come to understand and embrace the meaning of Watercolored Pearls, or will they miss the specific message that God is trying to convey to each one of them? Stacy Hawkins Adams has left no stone unturned in this final novel of her three-part series. This novel demonstrates that no matter what your situation, God is always a very present help, and He wants to deliver us from our hurts, pain, and problems. Very well-written, Stacy!
