Body and mind enlightenment

What a wonderful book! I've worked with a variety of movement programs and classes. Mixing insightful stories, crisp analysis of the body and practical exercises, I felt like this guide (It really should be referred to as a guide...it's a guide to the human body) took me on a journey to better understand the relationship between my mind, my form, my aches and pains, my posture, my dreams and my obstacles. It illustrates in a very clean fashion how all of these things mingle together. "Walking Your Talk" is not a magic bullet to solve all of your problems, but it is a warm, helping hand to point out some pathways to potentially unlock them. I walked away with new perspectives on how I view my body and its relationship to my psyche. I feel like I am already on the road to improving myself as result.

To see ourseles as ithers see us

Walking Your Talk is an answer to Robert Burns' lament-- "O wad some Power the giftie gie' us, To see ourseles as ithers see us." In the work of personal transformation, this book has begun helping me connect mind, body, spirit and my relationship to the world around me in a way no other book has done. Dreamwork, psychotherapy, breathwork, meditation -- and a host of therapies and practices-- are important and wonderful, but few bring it all home into everyday living. This book reads easily, yet is full of insights that demonstrate deep and grounded wisdom. Anecdotal evidence is balanced with well researched experience from the great teachers of our time. The exercises are simple and well explained. For those of us who live with constant little and big pains, but are determined to care for ourselves, this book is both a gentle challenge and a mug of hot chocolate!

The best present I bought for myself

It's nice to know that in this complicated world of layered information a guide like this exists. Author sheds light on the importance of body language as we move through our world, and does so simply and gracefully. Free of excess and to the point, this is a shortcut for anyone seeking answers on the endless rows of "self-improvement" shelves. Author invites reader to pay attention to how we move in order to discover where we are going and what may be slowing us down. The design of workbook lends to a literal learning experience. Readers can look forward to immediate internal shifts due to the style of learning that the practice of this book encourages. I was astounded by the many personal discoveries and "aha" moments during the read. Sufficient background, insightful mention of relevant theories, helpful illustrations, and clear instructions makes this an all around rich experience. My only regret is that I didn't learn all this earlier.
