realistic tale

Vision of the hunter is a good book. On the cover it's compared to the books Jean M Auel writes. And it's true it's a lot like Clan of the Cave Bear: a child from another tribe is taken in, although they don't really know what to do with him. The rest of the story is different: where Ayla was raised as one of there own, Finn is not wanted by anyone, grows up with the scraps they give him. But it's a realistic story. I'm an archaelologist, so I've got the right background to judge it, though I'm nog a prehistoric archaeologist. The story was believable and gripping, I wanted to finnish it in one go !

Fresh, a good yarn, a better read over "Shelters of Stone"

I found this book in high school and found it to be surprisinglyoriginal. Among the tribe of the Burnt Shins(it did sound silly for a while) is a youth from an interloper tribe named Finn with a tattoo of a leaping salmon. He was taken into the tribe by the leader but has to live a life of scavenging, of never really belonging anywhere until Hann's son dies.I enjoyed this tale very much, I wish Mr. Tempest would write another book, his style is very nice and engrossing.
