A computer nerd, James Coleman, experiences a midlife crisis and decides to move his family "up north" to northern Minnesota for the summer in order to live a more adventurous life. Everything works out better than expected until he hears a mysterious scream coming from deep in the woods late one night. Haunted by the scream, James begins an investigation that reveals a lot of strange happenings in the north woods. He soon realizes that his family is in imminent danger and tries to extricate them from the situation. But is it too late?

Mike Thorsen lives in Maple Grove, Minnesota, but gets down to his home in Port Charlotte, Florida, as much as he can during the winter. He is the author of many novels and screenplays including, Up North, The Spring Brings Rain, Wedding Night, The Cosmic Inferno, Rink , and is the cowriter of Project Achilles, which was made into a full-length feature film. He spends his free time biking, hiking, traveling, and spending as much time as possible with the love of his life, Janie, and his fabulous daughters, Josie and Jackie.
