Unleashed pulled out all the stops!

Unleashed by Lori Borrill is a Harlequin Blaze story and it is the first book that I've read by Lori Borrill. I was pleasantly surprised and I am looking forward to reading more by her. This story is about Jessica Beane, a small-town Texas girl who wants to escape her past by moving to San Francisco. She decides it is time to stop letting her heart lead her and just go with having fun, which is what she does with Rick Marshall, a sexy police investigator. She ends up having a one night stand with him, but leaves soon after when her supposed ex-husband calls and threatens her. Not too much later, Rick comes looking for her because her ex-husband has stolen his car which contains in the trunk important evidence in an ongoing murder investigation. So Jessica and Rick team up in search of her ex-husband, his car and evidence, and her and her friend's jewelry that he stole as well. This leads them back to the small-town that wanted to escape from in the first place. I was really impressed with this story. It flowed well, and the character development of Rick and Jessica was strong. The chemistry between them was also pretty hot. It had so many great elements that I give it 5 stars!

superb torrid police procedural romance

In San Francisco Texas transplant purse designer Jess Beane, known for her "Beane Bag", and police detective Rick Marshall meet at a bar at a time she needs to celebrate her business success and he needs a time out from a murder investigation. That night they enjoy the best sex either has ever had. The next morning he awakens in her apartment to soon find her and his car gone along with key evidence he had in the trunk involving his case. She returns to tell him she thinks her felonious ex husband stole the vehicle. They give chase, which leads them to trysts from the Bay to Texas where Jess' past arises to bite her butt and each can claim they slept here together. UNLEASHED is a superb torrid police procedural romance starring two wonderful protagonists. The car chase from Northern California to Texas is heated yet often amusing. Although leaving criminal case evidence in a trunk seems wrong, Rick explains it as thinking with his wrong head. Fans will relish this joy ride due to the fine lead pairing as Lori Borill provides a one sitting thriller. Harriet Klausner
