Understanding The Bible: Vol. 1 The Old Testament
Volume One: The Old Testament
The Bible you always meant to read all the way through.
Most people who own a Bible have never actually finished it. The names are unfamiliar, the sentences are long, and it can feel less like a story and more like a locked door.
Understanding the Bible unlocks it.
This is a complete, modern-language retelling of all thirty-nine books of the Old Testament - from Genesis to Malachi - written specifically for teens and young adults who want to actually understand what they're reading, not just skim it. Every section is grounded in the World English Bible (a faithful, public-domain translation), then retold plainly and honestly, the way you'd explain it to a friend.
Each chapter grouping includes:
The Story - the narrative retold clearly, in order
Why It Matters Today - a short reflection connecting it to real life
Discussion Questions - for personal journaling or group conversation
Nothing is softened. The hard parts of Scripture stay hard, honestly handled rather than skipped past - and the beautiful parts land with their full weight, too.
Whether you're reading solo, working through it with a youth group, or using it alongside your own Bible reading, this book exists for one reason: so that by the last page, the Bible feels less like a locked door and more like a story you actually know.
348 pages. Genesis through Malachi. The whole Old Testament, finally readable.
