The first thing that draws you into this movie is the credits. On the list is Gillian Anderson as Professor Hendricks. Everyone recognizes her from The X-Files. And you can almost see this as an extension of that series.
You might be right as student mathematician Derek, played by Alex Sharp, saw a UFO as a child and cannot get over it. Of course, even his mother did not believe him. What kind of mother is that?
Now evidence of a new sighting turns up, and he must use investigative skills to get the data and use his math skills to break the UFO secret. Everyone is stonewalling him. His teacher has no clue as to why he is acting so weird.
Oh no, it looks like a government cabal is also hot on his trail.
Can he figure this out in time?
Will his teacher come to the rescue?
Will his friends understand?
Is he going to become cabalonised?
Will they beam him up?
Wait and see.
There are a few drawbacks to his film. How is he this unknown genius that has gone undetected by everyone except the cabal? The pacing of the movie is slower than molasses; it just drags on and on with dull music and visual fillers. No gunplay or car chases. Gillian Anderson gets very few parts and is mostly background filler.
