To Say Goodbye Again

"Jac Winters, retired truck driver, husband, and father, lived for half a century in silence, carrying memories that stayed deep in his bones.

In To Say Goodbye Again, he distills that long journey into powerful poetry. What began as private verses in 2017 cracked open decades of fear, confusion, and anger-revealing the arduous road to reconciliation and peace.

A Titan Gold Book Award recipient, this collection offers an intimate prelude to his forthcoming memoir. Through heartfelt poems born from the cab of a truck and the endless black ribbon of highway that kept him moving forward, Jac pays quiet homage to resilience, redemption, and the simple joy of trucking.

These words are for anyone carrying their own silent burdens. You are not alone."

Poetry & Testimony

Upon opening this book, it immediately strikes a chord with the opening poem sharing the same title as the book itself. The writers stunning ability to draw you in as he shares the loss of people close to him. The visuals he creates for the reader, with lines like- "With tears streaming down my stark face." It immediately began to make me revisit my own grief. From there, it becomes a rollercoaster of lived truths. From Lighthearted pieces like “Dr. Flozz’s Toothy Anthem” to Poems that lay bare the pain of enforced silence. Then, without warning, it plunges into the unexpected chapter “Princess." I describe this book as emotionally flammable. I recommend it above all for the honesty and courage it took the author to reveal what irrevocably changed the trajectory of his life. This book should find readers who are struggling to find peace in the chaos after losing loved ones and those who have experienced any kind of child trauma. Similar books-I would say anything in renewal and resilience category of the Poetry section; that speaks to dealing with death and grief. I look forward to reading much more from this author.
