Become enchanted with #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts's This Magic Moment when a woman casts a spell to open the heart of a man who's tricked himself into believing that love doesn't... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This Magic Moment brings you the story of Pierce Atkins, a magician, and Ryan Swan, the producer of his live television special. Ryan is a strong, independent woman, yet left vulnerable from her past and her relationship with her father. Pierce is a loner with his own eccentricities and scarred past. When these two meet there is an undercurrent of attraction that is just waiting to explode...and explode it does! Together Pierce and Ryan bring sparks of passion and moments of loving tenderness. Their feelings and actions ring true to who they are and their story is more then completely satisfying. You almost don't want it to end, you get to love these characters so much. Link and Bess are two enchanting secondary characters that I would have enjoyed reading about in their own book, but I enjoyed the way it turned out. Nora Roberts weaves her magic in this tale written in the '80's that still feels modern and not at all dated. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend any Nora fan to see for themselves and enjoy the magic!
Timeless

When I said old-school Nora, I meant it. This book was published in 1983, but aside from a few little things (who wears teddys and stockings anymore?) you'd never know it. Nora is as timeless as love itself. Nora's heroes are often so damn nice, but this guy had some mystery and rage going on too, so it was a good switch. If you're into illusions or magic at all, you'll have a great time with this book. Hooray for Nora!
Almost Five stars

This book combines the appeal of the wounded, silent hero, who has chosen to press on and not cut himself off, but be a selfless friend, while battling his demons alone. Only to find the poor little rich girl, who is NOT the spoilt brat. It's very appealing that they do not have him making the mistake of thinking that she is just a spoilt brat. Insted, they both click on to each other's vulnerabilities and are drawn despite both having some impressively high walls built up. It's unusual because the hero 'feels' like he is the most isolated, but as you read you realize that it is hte heroine who has truly carved out a lonely life for herself. It is quiet, but sly. The humor peeks out at you, unexpected among these two somber souls, but giving you these delightful hints of what they could be if their walls were erected. Then of course Nora also uses one of my favorites, forcing the hero reject and then suffer the full extent of his arrogance in thinking that he can turn down love in order to keep his life safe. I'm not giving the story away, but there are a host of delightful side characters, a truly irrepressible raven and a big lug who will tug at you. It's been on my shelf for 20 years and will never get thrown away.
Intriguing "Roarke-like" Magician Makes This Book Great!

Ryan Swan (the book's lovely heroine), is a television producer hoping to sign the mysterious magician Pierce Atkins to do a live magic show. He agrees, but only if she handles the details herself, meaning lots of quality time together. The character of Pierce reminds me strongly of Roarke in Nora's other series, the J.D. Robb books. Like Roarke, Pierce has had a hard knock life and he has a very mysterious quality too. Pierce and Ryan's relationship is troubled because of the dangerous stunts he performs in his act, but Pierce refuses to give them up.Excerpt from the back of the book:"Abracadabra! For this one moment, Ryan Swan, you will believe in magic... If only she could. But how was Ryan ever to know if the love of mysterious magician Pierce Atkins was real enough to last a lifetime or just an illusion she'd conjured up herself? She'd just have to read the message in his eyes...Pierce had a lot of tricks up his sleeve-and he needed all his skill in magic to get his message across to skeptical Ryan. But a message of love has a powerful magic all its own..."
