A great resource for teachers! In graceful verse that matches the rhythm of an eel's movement, THINK OF AN EEL relates the little-known lifestyle of a most intriguing fish. Children follow an eel from the day he is born, deep in the Sargasso Sea, to his years spent in the ocean, then join him on a trip up a freshwater river and return with him back to the sea, where he has his offspring. Fluid watercolor illustrations depict the sea and river setting in a story as captivating as it is true.
A beautiful look at the life cycle of an eel. The watercolor paintings are an inspiration for nature. This book is full of details including time references based on snow melt, moon phases, and seasons. There is an actual size indicator, which many nonfiction book lack. I loved this book and can't wait to use it as a teacher!

My 4 year old grandson thinks this is the coolest book ever. The giant size makes it even better (in his eyes) If you have a child facinated with sea life, this one belongs on the shelf.
Nonfiction at its best!

I purchased the big book version of Think of an Eel - and wow! As a teacher of a 3/4 multiage class this was the perfect book to showcase how nonfiction text should be written. The beautiful illustrations match perfectly with the text. The use of similes, alliterations, and just delicious, descriptive words make this book one not to pass up. I enjoyed sharing this book with my class so much that I had to go a do a read aloud with my partners class! Both classes thoroughly enjoyed this book and learned tons of new information. Nonfiction text written for all level of learners.
