The Yoga of Being explores the gnosis of Being in daily life. The book draws on the inner yoga tradition and perennial wisdom in an exposition of the journey towards the plenitude of Being. This journey is a process of self-actualization that involves the awakening of the psychoenergetic vortices of the subtle energy body called the chakras. These "resonators", once fully activated and harmonized, can potentialize the full expression of Being.
I guide the reader through a process of self-discovery, highlighting the importance of contemplation, impartial witnessing and self-awareness. The various chakras and their potentialities are sequentially explained, one chakra at a time. The chakras together form an interdependent chain expressing the subtle aspects of the five elements (of which we ourselves are made), namely earth, water, fire, air and ether, as well as the lower and higher aspects of mind. They can metaphorically be described as a stairway from immanence to transcendence.
I also address the personal, ego-based distortions that prevent the potentialities of the chakras from manifesting and which at the same time prevent the essential qualities of Being from shining forth. These distortions are a prime obstacle to authentic self-empowerment and to the development of inner freedom.
I suggest, finally, that these challenging times require a grounded spirituality, an ethos of co-operation, co-creation and inclusivity, as well as a practical, heart-centered wisdom. An active cultivation of the foundational qualities of presence and equanimity, as well as the more situational qualities of generosity, gratitude, compassion (including self-compassion), joy and humility could be part of the resurgence of a forgotten collective ethos.
