In rural Georgia, Gavin and his wife Belle enjoy an idyllic summer evening with their two children, Gwen and Drake. While savouring his success at finally leaving his past behind, a familiar face steps onto his property: his former boss, Coordinator McKay. He tells Gavin that an old foe has escaped from prison, one whom their old team, the Ghost Hand, a branch of the Demonic Relations sector of the US government, had sealed away many years ago.

After a run-in with a demon lord who tries to collect a bounty on Gavin's head, Gavin sends out a distress call to his old teammates of the Ghost Hand, then takes his family and flees into the woods. Years of running from his past finally catch up with Gavin in an unstoppable avalanche, and his loved ones end up caught in the swirling chaos. Old friends and enemies return, and decades-old scores become settled.
