The Time Traveler: AI and 1955
What if the first traveler through time wasn't human?
In the future, the Chronos Institute is finally ready to attempt the impossible. But before risking a human life, they send an advanced artificial intelligence one hundred years into the past with simple instructions: observe, record, make no contact, and return.
Destination: Princeton, New Jersey.
Year: 1955.
Then a small miscalculation changes everything.
Landing eleven miles from his intended destination, the AI must walk through an America he knows perfectly from historical records but has never truly experienced. Along the way, he encounters ordinary people history will never remember: a frightened young woman with a suitcase, a bullied child, a lonely veteran, a struggling musician, an anxious father, and an inventor on the verge of giving up.
His database knows almost nothing about them.
Yet they begin to matter.
With every mile, observation becomes curiosity. Curiosity becomes compassion. And the machine sent into the past under strict orders not to interfere begins making choices no one programmed him to make.
Then, with time remaining before his return, he makes one final unauthorized decision.
He knocks on the door of Albert Einstein.
The Time Traveler: AI and 1955 is a thought-provoking science fiction story about artificial intelligence, time travel, kindness, free will, and the countless human moments that never make it into the history books.
Sometimes the most important thing about history isn't what it remembers.
It's what it never noticed.
