The book tells the story of a single mother struggling to care for her six children in the fifties and sixties and into the seventies. It tells the story primarily of the middle boy as he struggled with a crippling disease and a poor prognosis. Against all predictions of the doctors, he went on to accomplish more than most people would in similar circumstances. Perhaps even more than most healthy people. His life had tragedy and triumph. The reader will cry at times and laugh at other times. There are also many life lessons that can bring comfort and understanding to some of life's most difficult events. By the age of twenty, he went through a lifetime of experiences and now tries to impart some of what he learned to others. For sure, no one reading this book will be unaffected.
