Hidden secrets

Really enjoyed this book. Had lot of fun, yet a believable suspense story going on as well. Layla has been trained as a spy/operative by the governement since she was a young child. When the program is busted - as late teens sent home with no way to adapt. Ansel (our bad guy) finds out about these kids and starts hiring (collecting) them, ultimate goals is to take over the Union Alliance. On top of special training - each of these kids have a specialized chip in their brain that enhances there abilities or contains secrets. Layla has chip full of Union secrets, backup plans. Really cool concept. Layla is on the run and Ansel hires two bounty hunters Orion and Balt. Layla is in disguise but the attraction between Heartmates will not be denied. 1st half is the cat/mouse - growing attraction. 2nd half is saving Layla and not allowing Ansel access to chip. Sub characters of Zelda, Bren and McTavish make this a very well rounded story.

A keeper...

I've just got through reading this book and immediately ordered book number 2 in the series. I won't go into plot detail here, but I will say that the author did a fine job of honing the plot, making the story believable (I know it's sci-fi!!!), and making the chemistry bewteen all 3 main characters hot. There were times that I had to set the book down and take a breather. The love scenes were phenomenal!! This is on my keeper shelf. I can 't wait to read book 2.

Both want her--but plan to kill her to remove the chip. She's hiding out in (hopefully) the last place they would expect, disguised as a barmaid on Settler's Mine--where species the universe over come to search for the heartstone that will identify their mate. Orion and Balt are two bounty hunters that have both been given the assignment to bring Layla in. They are also bitter rivals and neither is pleased to see the other on Settler's Mine. When both are attracted to the beautiful barmaid, it's just another thing to fight over...until they discover she's THEIR mate. A very intense and very suspenseful tale by Mechele Armstrong. This is true erotica where the sexual interactions are an integral part of the story. The tension between the characters is exacerbated by the preexisting rivalry of the males and the dire circumstances facing the female. Armstrong does a great job weaving her world building into the story without leaving the reader waiting for more action. The pace is taut and rolls forward from the first chapter to the last. The characters grow and suffer and the choices they make impact the tenor of their relationships. A nicely done erotic story that I'm glad I didn't miss.

Orion and Balt are rival bounty hunters both sent to Settler's Mine to bring in the female Layla. It's a competition to see who will locate her first. When they at last stumble upon Layla, they are astonished to find their heart stones glowing, marking all three as mates. The Rivals is humorous revelations for this trio of characters, Orion and Balt have long been attracted to each other, but never acted on that attraction. Layla found both men attractive, but the many secrets she carries make her powerless to trust. Mechele Armstrong creates a sizzling jaunt into space.
