A wonderful supplement and mini-travel dictionary

This is not a huge lexicon. It is a thin little book with a very limited number of words. However, the words included are often not defined in standard English-Cantonese dictionaries and all the translations are "spot on". Moreover, the appendices contain numerous specialized vocabulary for travel in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. As icing on the cake there is a short list of short, useful phrases a tourist is likely to want to use on a trip. The little powerhouse of a reference is complete with a phonetic guide to Yale romanization, so it makes for a nice springboard to serious study and is a good long-term study-aid. I would recommend this to any but native/near-native level speakers of Cantonese and most enthusiastically to non-students of Cantonese who are taking a trip to Hong Kong or Canton (Guangzhou).
