This is my new favorite obsession!

The children at Grace Field House orphanage have everything they need, good food, clean clothes and a mother who seems to love them. They live a good life in a friendly environment, but one day, two of brightest children at the orphanage, Emma and Norman, discover a dark truth about the outside world they had only known from story books. From the moment I picked this book up, the story drew me in, practically every page kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more. I try to balance reviews with pros and cons, but with this volume I cannot think of a noteworthy con. One thing I'd like to note is, while this is obviously a manga and stylized as such, there is quite a bit of Western influence, particularly of the characters in their bone structure. It feels a bit odd at first but once the novelty of the blending of the arts wore off, I found it matched the opaquely covered dark tone of the story. By the end, I was kicking myself for not having the next volume on hand. This series got bumped to the top of my next-to-buy list! I can't wait to learn more about the children's world as they do.
